Strain Rate Effect on the Evolution of Deformation Texture for -Fe

چکیده

The effect of strain rate on the deformation texture of alpha-iron ( -Fe) is studied at different strain levels during the deformation. Two shear compression specimens (SCS) were deformed in three consecutive stages at room temperature, one at 10 /s and the other at 10 /s, to the same strain level. The crystallographic textures were determined using electron backscattered diffraction. The textures at each deformation stage were found to be unaffected by the wide variations in strain rate. By comparing the stress–strain curves and crystallographic texture at the two strain rate levels, it is realized that for -Fe there is no marked increase in strain hardening at high strain rate with respect to quasi-static tests, so that the deformation texture remains unchanged. The temperature increase that develops at high strain rates is deemed to sharpen the texture.

Texture Evolution in Low Carbon Steel Fabricated by Multi-directional Forging of the Martensite Starting Structuree

It has been clarified that deformation and annealing of martensite starting structure can produce ultrafine-grained structure in low carbon steel.  This study aims to investigate the texture evolution and mechanical properties of samples with martensite structure deformed by two different forging processes. The martensitic steel samples were forged by plane strain compression and multi-directio...

Effect of Fe additive on plastic deformation for crush-boxes with closed-cell metal foams, Part I: Al-composite foam compression response

AbstractIn this paper, we investigate effect of Fe–intermetallic compounds on plastic deformation of closed-cell composite Aluminum Foam as filler of thin-walled tubes. However, deformation of the Aluminum foam-filled thin-walled tubes as crushed-box will be presented in Part (II). Composite foams of AlSi7SiC3 and AlSi7SiC3-(Fe) as closed cell were synthesized by powder metallurgy foaming metho...

The Effect of Cold Rolling Process on the Microstructure and Texture Evolution in a 1 wt. % Si Non-oriented Electrical Steel

In this study, the effect of cold rolling process on the microstructure and texture evolution in 1wt. % Si non-oriented electrical steel was investigated. For this purpose, all samples were processed through single-stage hot rolling at 1100 ° C and two-stage cold rolling (cross rolling and unidirectional rolling) with intermediate annealing at 650 °C for 35 seconds. Finally, all of them were fu...

Microstructural Evolution of X45CrNiW189 Valve Steel During Hot Deformation

The hot compression tests were carried on X45CrNiW189 valve steel (X45) in the temperature range of 1000– 1200 °C and the strain rate range of 0.004 – 0.5 s-1 in order to study the high temperature softening behavior of this steel. For the exact prediction of flow stress, the effective stress-effective strain curves were obtained from experiments under various conditions. On the basis of experi...

The Effect of Fe Additive on Plastic Deformation for Crush-Boxes with Closed-Cell Metal Foams, Part II: Al-Composite Foam-Filled brass tubes Compression Response

The brass tubes with foam cores of AlSi7SiC3, AlSi7SiC3Fe1 and AlSi7SiC3Fe3 were produced as the crush-boxes with circle and square cross-section. Then axial compressive behavior and energy absorption capability of the foam-filled tubes were investigated during the quasi-static progressive plastic buckling. The uniaxial compressive stress–strain curves of the foam-filled brass tubes exhibited t...
